SUBMARINE CONFERENCE STARTS TOMORROW
The Federal Government’s perspectives on Australia’s submarine capability and the Western Australian State Government’s campaign to secure full-cycle docking work on Australia’s submarines will feature when the 5th Submarine Science, Technology and Engineering Conference 2019 (SubSTEC5) commences in Fremantle tomorrow (Monday, 18 November).
The conference, which is convened by the Submarine Institute of Australia (SIA), is Asia-Pacific’s leading forum on submarines.
SIA Executive Director, David Nicholls said: “The theme for SubSTEC5 is ‘innovation and investment in the sub-sea environment’ and the conference is bringing together a high-level group of speakers and presenters.”
The Opening Reception of the conference is taking place from 6pm tomorrow night (at Bathers Beach House, Fremantle) and speakers will include:
- Hon Melissa Price MP, Minister for Defence Industry; and
- Hon Paul Papalia CSC MLA, Western Australian Minister for Defence Issues.
Also, Minister Papalia will present the SIA Award for Engineering Excellence 2019 to a serving submariner.
Ahead of the Opening Reception, groups of delegates are undertaking industry and academic tours at different sites across Perth.
For those who are unable to attend SubSTEC5, regular updates will be posted to the SIA’s social media channels and website during the conference.
